Shown on Eyre & Jeffries 1791 map and marked as Cottingham Mill on 1827 Bryant's map.

A straight channel, about 400m long, approaches the site of the mill from the NW. At the mill site the main flow of water is on the north of the channel where there is some fallen brickwork. The south side of the channel seems to have been the former wheel race. South of the mill site is the dried up course of the by-pass channel, crossed by a brick segmental arch bridge, 2.5m span, probably on the line of the track from the mill to Mill Road.
