Full Description

{1} The manor was held by the male line of the de Camville family until the death of Roger de Camville in 1235 without male issue. After the death of his daughter it was split between his three sisters: Elena, wife of Thomas de Astley, Petonilla the wife of Richard Curzon and Matilda the wife of Thomas de Esseby.

{2} The east part of the manor site has been destroyed by the M1 and part of the west has been levelled for a playing field. Its attribution as the site of a manor house rests on the shape of the earthworks, and it may simply be a former part of the village.
