Full Description
{3} Hugh de Legustre founded a Cluniac priory c.1090 adjoining his castle at Preston Capes. Due to a lack of water and the proximity of the castle the priory moved to Daventry in 1107-8.
{5} A Cluniac Priory was founded c.1090 by Hugh de Leicester 'adjoining his castle' at Preston Capes. This site remained the centre of the manor, even though the priory was moved to Daventry in 1107-8.
{6} CRO Northampton hold no additional information relating to the site of this early house. The parish church is 13 c and there is no evidence of an earlier building.
