Summary

A former early 19th century public house situated on the eastern side of the junction of High Street, Stamford Road and Mill Street. The pub is built from coursed rubble with a double pitch slate roof with two projecting chimney stacks rising from the south wall and a brick chimney stack on the eastern gable end. During the 20th century the building seems to have been divided into two houses with two entrance doors on the northern side. The entrance facade has a three window range of cross casements to the upper floor with similar windows below. A small cross casement window is located in the west, street facing gable.

Full Description

{4} The Old Windmill, a two-storey house built as the Windmill inn in the early 19th century. Three-room plan, the staircase rising between the two west rooms which have rear stacks; the east room, with separate entrance was the kitchen. In 1837 it was owned by Joseph Phillips of Stamford, brewer (Burghley Estate Office, Valuation).
