Full Description
{1} A two-storey engine house was observed.
{2} The building is almost certainly the clay receiving shed referred to by O'Rourke. Its primary function was to receive clay from the nearby clay pits. This was transported in hand pushed narrow guage rail mounted wooden tubs. The tubs were hauled by cable to the first storey from where the clay would be tipped from the tubs into the pug-mill below. This machine kneaded the clay into a workable state in order that it could be fed into the extrusion die. The bricks would be (wire?) cut and removed by barrow for drying in a nearby drying shed.
