Full Description

{1} Three trenches were positioned to examine the periglacial camber. Trench 1 contained a sequence of clays and silty clays containing occaisonal round pebbles. Trench 3 contained two mid reddish brown sandy dilt deposits with occasional angular limestone. Trench 2 contained a sequence of sandy and silty clays. The two lower fills contained burnt stone, charcoal flecks, fired clay, slag and cattle sized bones. Deposits also contained seven small sherds of Late Bronze Age Early Iron Age pottery, slag, fired clay and burnt oolithic limestone.
