Full Description

{1}There was a brickworks in existence by 1851 and the gasworks was built and in operation by 1872, these professions providing the first heavy industry for the village.

The Gasworks opened in 1872 provided gas lighting to the village and in 1925 an electricity supply became available to new houses.

Modern industrial buildings have replaced the gas works that were built on Hinwick Road, no physical evidence has been identified.
