{1}Early education was also carried out by the Keep Sisters, an important local family, who held private lessons, taking boys over the age of 14 for Bible classes, teaching the fine arts and painting, and needlework to girls. A stone building in Bell End has a village Millennium plaque on it identifying it as the site of their school. It is a plain building with little architectural detail.
