Full Description
{1} Geophysical survey identified a large complex of features, mainly situated to the north and east of the present farm buildings. The morphology of the features suggests a prehistoric or Roman date. In the southern part of field 3 and field 1 is a large, complicated, multiphase settlement which probably extends south under the present barns and possibly under the railway line as well. The total extent of the settlement was not investigated as it was felt that its nature and complexity and its close proximity to the present farm buildings would preclude any extraction of clay in this portion of the field. Two of the enclosures appear to be set apart from the rest of the settlement.
