Telephone exchange built before 1961 with a large extension to the south in 1971-2 by F L Mason of the Dept of the Environment (consultant architects Leonard J Multon & Partners).

Full Description

{1} Apparently there is a bunker in the telephone exchange. Five men reportedly worked on their own for "days at a time behind a substantial blast door, with food and water reserves. There were no generators, all equipment being run from huge batteries". Also includes more information on telecommunications bunkers in general.
