Full Description
{1} In the 1880's Dryden noted an extensive spread of material running north east from the railway station (north of the present town) towards Gayton in the general direction of Duston. Woodfield (see ref 2) suggests this marks the course of another branch road from Watling Street to the north-east outside the town but the absence of modern archaeological intervention leaves its course and date open to investigation.
