Full Description
{1} At the W end of the field system were two groups of pits, which lay in the base of adjacent furrows. They typically comprised square to rectangualr pits of regular shape and arranged in rows. Three in the northern group and two in the southern group which measured 20m. A few sherds of pottery indicated they were 13th-14th century in date.
The function of the pits is unclear, they must have been excavated within the open fields and were deliiberately located within the furrows and with the rectangular pits elongated in the same direction. They may be possible clay or marl pits.
