Type and Period (1)

Full Description

{1} Enclosure consisting of a possible C shaped, open ended loop of recut ditches with an entrance to the west. The ditches of this enclosure cut the ditches of the enclosure to the south, suggesting that it was a replacement to, rather than a contemporary, of it. Along the southern edge of the enclosure a single length of recut ditch with a butt end contained a large number of pot boilers, most of which showed signs of burning, and a large cow skull.

A ditch or ditches recorded (but not excavated) during the watching brief represented the western terminals of the northern enclosure.

{2} Enclosure 2 lay to the north and consisted of a possible C shaped open ended loop of recut ditch with a west entrance. The ditches were generally broader and shallower than Enclosure 1, and had not been so extensively reworked. Along the southern edge a single length of recut ditch contained a large number of stones, most of which showed signs of burning, and a large cow skull. No evidence of internal features was located.
