Full Description

{1} Palaeochannels seen: a main channel with a further minor channel to the east. At one point a large timber piece approx 0.5m long was observed vertically within the alluvium immediately south of the palaeochannel. The top was badly splintered but was flat and probably cut. It is uncertain whether this timber was deliberately placed or a natural feature.

{2} Channel C comprised a 50m wide corridor of lenticular deposits of reworked gravels and organic materials denoting the intertwining of former river beds. Organic sediments including woods were sampled from its fills. At the base of the channel root tracks penetrated the gravels and were filled with silty clay.
