Archaeological observation undertaken during gravel quarrying in 1987 identified pits and ditches of Iron Age and Roman date including a possible defensive enclosure of Iron Age date.

Full Description
{1} . Pits and ditches of Iron Age and Roman date were revealed during gravel quarrying in 1987. An exceptionally deep ditch, dating to the late Iron Age may have been part of a defensive enclosure. The site is situated c 1mile NNE of the Roman town at Irchester.
