Full Description

{1} Two lines of postholes were recorded c3.5m to the west of the parallel ditches and roughly parallel with its edge. One line comprised nine post holes, 0.3-0.45m wide by up to 0.30m deep, and from c.0.6 to 1m apart from centre to centre. The other line comprised seven postholes of comparable dimensions, but regularly spaced at intervals of c.1m from centre to centre.
The postholes survived only in those areas where mechanical stripping had been least severe, and hence might originally have been the foundations of a continuous palisade. None produced any evidence of date, but their positioning relative to the parallel ditches may imply contemporaneity.
