Full Description
{1} Earthworks of 3 medieval fishponds at the bottom of the scarp by the river. The long, narrow lower pond has a single division into 2 unequal units. The separate, small upper pond is on the same alignment. They are possibly fed by a spring immediately to the south-west and slightly upslope. Now dry.
{2} Ponds are c.1m deep. The third pond may not be contemporary. Bounded on north sides by a bank up to 2m high. The ridge and furrow terminates well short of the ponds.
{4} A line of three ponds, 1m deep, all now dry. The largest is now divided into two parts, and both this and the one immediately to the west are bounded on their north sides by a continuous bank up to 2m high. There is no visible inlet or outlet channel and the ponds may have been filled by seepage of water from the adjacent hillside. The third pond lies some distance to the east and is a simple depression. It may not be contemporary with the others. The adjacent ridge and furrow to the south terminates well short of the ponds and is likely to be contemporary with or later than them.
