Summary

A subrectangular ditched enclosure of probable Iron Age or Roman date is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Located in a field about 910 metres NE of Black Lodge and adjacent the west side of Old Meadow woodland, the ditch up to 2 metres wide has three linear sides, with a curvilinear S facing side, enclosing an area about 28 x 32 metres at its widest points. A gap of 2 metres in the linear N facing side may be an entrance.

{2} A subrectangular ditched enclosure of probable Iron Age or Roman date is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs and was mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. Located in a field about 910 metres NE of Black Lodge, adjacent the west side of Old Meadow woodland and centred at TL 03313 72856, the ditch up to 2 metres wide has three linear sides, with a curvilinear S facing side, enclosing an area about 28 x 32 metres at its widest points. A gap of 2 metres in the linear N facing side may be an entrance.
