Full Description

{1} Much of the interior of Brigstock Great Park is covered with charcoal patches probably resulting from charcoal burning as part of the woodland industry of Rockingham Forest. The relationship of the charcoal production with the deer park is not known, although the soilmarks have been interpreted by The National Mapping Programme as Saxon/medieval in date.
