Monument record 3727/0/27 - Possible Bronze Age ring ditch and pits, Grendon Quarry

Summary
A ring ditch was observed as part of a quarry watching brief, no internal features were noted but several small and shallow Bronze Age pits were revealed nearby, at the bottom of one pit an unusual tanged and barbed arrow head was found under a large stone, possibly a rubbing stone.

Full Description
{2} (SP 881622) A ring ditch was observed as part of a quarry watching brief, no internal features were noted but several small and shallow Bronze Age pits were revealed nearby, bottom of one pit an unusual tanged and barbed arrow head was found under a large stone, possibly a rubbing stone. An Iron Age complex of pit alignments and ditches was also destroyed. A small Anglo-Saxon Grubenhaus was revealed by soil stripping prior to quarrying.
