Full Description
{1} At SP93737688 two urns and other Anglo Saxon remains were found c.1870 by Rev. H. Maller, the Rector of Twywell. The urns are now in the church. Info G.V.Charlton. Two more urns in the church were recovered from Twywell Glebe in 1969.
{2} (SP 93737688) Anglo Saxon Remains found AD 1870.
{3} Five pots in the church from the Glebe. Saxon burials have certainly been found in the area, but the details are obscure. OS maps show "Anglo Saxon remains found 1870" at TL93737688, close to Twywell Brook. Records also exist of three small Saxon urns found in the late C19th together with a description of Roman pottery (now identified as Iron Age and Roman). However, five pots of Saxon date, in Twywell Church are labelled as from Twywell Glebe.
{7} Two Anglo-Saxon urns (1 plain jar and 1 small domestic grooved and polished pot) are on show in Twywell church labelled "... from Twywell Glebe". The sexton was consulted but has no additional information. The published site is arable land.
