Summary

A double ditched sub-rectangular enclosure is visible on aerial photographs, which is possibly of Iron Age or Roman in date. An ironstone quarry cuts through the middle of the enclosure from northwest to southeast.

Full Description

{1}Enclosure (SP 923693), W. of Stone Cross Cottage on Northampton Sand at 76m above OD. An air photograph shows a sub-rectangular enclosure, curved at one end.
{2} Air photos taken in 1970 show 2 right angles lengths of ditch, one within the other.

{3} Aerial photography 1982, double ditched rectangular enclosure.

{5} The double ditched enclosure described above {1} was mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project from aerial photographs. An ironstone quarry cuts through the middle of the enclosure from northwest to southeast.
