Monument record 9728/1/1 - Probable modern service, south of Irchester

Originally interpreted as the remains of an ironstone tramway, but geophysical survey undertaken in 2018 suggests that it is modern service, probably the Grafham to Hannington water main pipeline.

{2} A mineral railway is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs and has been mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. The remains of the railway is visible extending from SP 91916 65132 to SP 92459 65226.

{3} Geophysical survey undertaken in 2018 identified the feature previously identified as a cropmark aligned east-west across the site. The strong positive anomaly surrounded by a negative magnetic halo most likely relates to a modern service.
