Monument record 4156/11/1 - Undated Fields or Enclosures, Possibly Medieval (Morphed Aerial Archaeology Interpretation)

Earthworks of a possible Iron Age or Roman field system identified in Rockingham Park immediately north of Rockingham Castle. The field system comprises small rectangular closes bounded by low scarps and banks up to 0.25 metres high. The northern lower ends are cut by the Medieval hollow-way into the village, the southern ends appear to be overlain by the outer terrace of the north bailey of the castle.

{1} Rectangular enclosures bounded by low scarps no more than 0.25m high. The north end of the area is cut by medieval hollow ways whilst the south is overlain by the castle's north bailey. The interiors of some contain small quarry pits. Date and purpose unknown; probably medieval but could be prehistoric or Romano-British monument type known as Celtic Fields.
