Full Description

{2} Earthworks of the possible medieval and post medieval shrunken village of Brampton Ash were deserted in this area by 1839.

{3} Settlement remains lie on either side of the now isolated church. There are slight traces of ploughed-out rectangular embanked closes and disturbed areas suggest former buildings covering about 3ha. The site was already devoid of habitation in 1839. These somewhat indeterminate remains must reflect the expansion and contraction of the village throughout its life, as well as perhaps some movement.

{4} Area of settlement earthworks recorded by D.Hall as part of the Rockingham Forest Project Survey.
