[Elements of this undated enclosure have been alternatively interpreteted as remains of the Weekley medieval open fields (SMR Monument Complex 3785),(David Hall's records for The Rockingham Forest Project interpret the east and west linear boundary as headlands), and the eastern linear boundary has also been interpreted as a modern mineral railway associated with quarrying activity (SMR Monument Complex 3948).
