Full Description

{2} The fort comprises a roughly oval area of some 2.6ha, bounded by a double bank and ditch. The inner bank is up to 3m high above the interior with an outer ditch 4m deep below the summit. Beyond is an outer bank, no more than 0.5m high in the west and north, completely removed on the east, and up to 1m high in the south. The outer ditch has disappeared completely except for slight traces along the west side. There are several gaps in the defences: the westrern one is original, the eastern may be Roman and the north and north west ones are 17th century. Brief history of Iron Age and Roman occupation periods given.
