Full Description
{1} AP shows a feature located close to the south side of the River Tove. The feature takes the form of an equilateral triangle (sides c6m long) enclosed within a larger triangle (sides c 13m long). There is a sigle projection, (c6m long) extending approx. north. This feature is very similar in general form to one in Pilton parish in the NE of the county (TL00088496) identified on an AP of 1944. The Pilton feature was white (painted?), interpreted as being an aerial marker for use with the Wadenhoe/Bearshanks Wood Bombing Range. By analogy the Paulerspury feature could be interpreted as pointing N/magnetic N, and be associated with the documented Shutlanger bombing range. The latter presumably lay north of this marker? No locations for obs tower known (if present?).
