Summary
Building stone, walls, painted wall plaster and a large quantity of finds were made during quarrying in the early 20th century. A possible kiln or oven was also noted.

Full Description
{1} Photograph in Kettering Museum shows stone walling or possibly stone lining in side of well. Possible Romano-British kiln revealed during quarrying; "....bath-shaped oven....is possibly a kiln....";
{2} During quarrying stones were revealed which were believed to be foundations of a building; interpreted as a possible Romano-British villa; report via Mr Charles Wise. References also made to "….a bath-shaped oven or opening of burnt stones & other like items….";,
{12} "....cement flooring of traingular shape & bounded on 2 sides by fragments of walls...." was found; approximately 4yds long x 3yds wide; in close proximity was painted wall plaster & roof tiles & nails. In either Blackmiles or Houselade "….some years since a kind of oven which may have been heating furnace of a Romano-British villa…." was found;,
