Monument record 1340/0/8 - Prehistoric Enclosure

A probable ring ditch has been recorded during magnetometer survey. Presumed to be a single ditched round barrow, it is located immediately east of the ditched enclosure SP 97 SE 86. [NB the grid reference cited is an estimate, in advance of a definitive siting]

{1} Circular anomaly showed during magnatometer survey, also identified as cropmark. Had diameter of 24m so too large to be a round house. Possible round barrow. Field walking revealed only a slight concentration of flint over the area, but barrows in other locations have been found to have little surface evidence.

{2} Probable ring ditch; NCCAP:SP9773/057.

{3} A second circular anomaly with a diameter of 20m (D) could represent the remains of a further roundhouse or perhaps an earlier ring ditch.
