Type and Period (3)

Full Description

{2} A long wide ditch, up to 2m deep, marked as a 'moat' on OS maps, on the north side of the Green. At its west end it turns south and widens into a pond. In 1840 this ditch extended for some 80m further south. At its west end it runs into Horse Close Spinney and turns north through it.

{3} In fact, just a pond and a wet ditch, not a moat.

{4} A combination of irregular farm pond and wet ditch; the features do not, and ground inspection suggests they never have, formed part of an enclosure. Pending historical substantiation the classification of authority {7} is most suspect.

{5} No change.
