Monument record 2847/0/2 - Possible Enclosure

An Iron Age/Roman rectilinear enclosure is visible as a cropmark on air photographs. The full extent of the feature is not visible on the available 2008 specialist photography. The feature was previously recorded as linear field boundaries by the Northamptonshire NMP, but this interpretation has been amended using the new images.

{1} Cropmark observed in 1982 of a rectangular enclosure.

{2} An Iron Age/Roman rectilinear enclosure is visible as a cropmark on air photographs, at TL 0086 9878. The full extent of the feature is not visible on the available 2008 specialist photography. The feature was previously recorded as linear field boundaries by the Northamptonshire NMP, but this interpretation has been amended using the new images. The feature cuts or is cut by a pit alignment (UID 1494257).

{3} The enclosure was photographed again in 2015. It is visible as a single ditched enclosure roughly 60m x 50m. A linear ditch continues from the east corner which may be the edge of an adjacent enclosure. However the north edge of both features is obscured by a modern field boundary. The enclosure is centred on NGR TL 00881 98801.
