Full Description

{4} The bailey rampart is up to 2.5m high, possibly with a modern entrance.

{5} Earthworks. The castle and priory both sit within the moated area. This is visible on all sides except where levelled. The castle is on high ground south-west of the house, with a distinct ditch within a larger ditch.

{6} The aperipheral bailey of the castle was a semi-circular area lying to the west and north-west of the motte and now survives as earthworks. A long, curving bank up to 2.5m high running along the western edge of the site, above a steep valley, defines the extent of the bailey; within the bailey, platforms and depressions indicate the the presence of former buildings.
