Monument record 6941/0/1 - Possible Post Medieval Quarry Pit or pond, north of Ordnance Road

Earthworks of a possible pond or quarry identified both on the ground and on aerial photographs.

{1} A number of earthworks are centred upon SP622594; possible quarries or ponds.

{2} T.C. Welsh suggests that the earthworks lying between Ordnance Road and The River Nene are ponds or leats, possibly suggesting the presence of a mill.

{3} T.C. Welsh speculates that there was a leat that is overlain by the ridge and furrow (so dating to the medieval period rather than recent) which maybe indicates water power which may relate to the grange of the Abbey of Bec.
