Full Description

{3} Earthwork; the northernmost of three possible medieval fishponds the form of which is unknown. A large bank is shown on historic Ordnance Survey maps and RAF Aerial Photos taken in 1953, but this has now been destroyed and the land around it landscaped and built over. The position of this bank, lying as it did, almost parallel to the stream, is curious but it is probable that it was a dam for a pond which once lay to the north-west; before modern landscaping and development the land to the north-east of the ponds was covered by well-marked ridge and furrow. The area enclosed by the dams was called 'fish Pond Meadow' in a conveyance of 1878 and 'fishponds' in the 1932 place-names survey;
