Building record 7203/2/1 - Alfred Sargent & Sons, Portland Road

A single-storey shoe factory of circa 1910 was built by the firm of Alfred Sargent & Sons who currently still operate from it today. The factory faces Portland Road to the north and has a brick frontage of six pier and panel bays with pre-cast concrete details. The principle entrance is in the fourth bay from the east. To the rear there are north-lit ranges.

{2} Single-storeyed shoe factory of c 1910. In 1922 the firm was described as 'makers of "The Sargeant's boot" for policemen & postmen & 'Forum' brand in men's medium footwear, welted & MS [machine-sewn]'
