Full Description

Early edition OS maps show loactions of several brick kilns.

{1} Deanshanger: Known Operating Dates- 1885-1894. Operated by the Saunders family, this small yard is shown as having two kilns on the 1887 map but they are both described as 'old'. If these had in fact gone out of use then the opening date must have been considerably earlier than 1885, the first reference. One very small circular kiln is shown but this appears to be for lime (there were several more in this vicinity).
