Full Description

{2} From the pond a broad hollow way extends up the hillside towards the site of the old manor house where, at its north-east end it is blocked by the ditch around the 1580s orchard. Just west of this point there is a low mound only 0.25m high. To the north another shallow hollow way, also blocked by the orchard ditch, runs down the hillside then turns north-eastwards. It can be traced for about 110m until it fades out just before it reaches the post medieval garden terraces. From the latter, another ditch or hollow way extends north-westwards across the park, passing between ridge and furrow. On the north side of this ditch close to the garden boundary at least two low mutilated scarps are visible which appear to predate the garden earthworks. Earthwork plan.
