Full Description

{3} T.C. Welsh describes the form and alignment of the ridge and furrow remains here.

{4} A particularly well preserved block of ridge and furrow exists in pasture at SP662645. In the same area is a reversed-S furlong (SP664 646) orientated north-south, which has remarkably high terminations at the south ends of the ridges. These are large sub-rectangular mounds, up to 1.25m high, which would seem to have prevented a plough from turning. Their function and method of formation are not clear.
