Full Description

{1} Bank and ditch earthwork observed. (RFP Rapid Survey?) [N.B. Possibly only observed as soilmark.]

{2}{6}{7} Simon subsequently enlarged his park since he was given licence to impark “three plots in Rockingham Forest
called Eldesale, Newesale and Lappe, containing 62 acres, and another plot of 20 acres called Wynescross outside the
forest, continuous to the said plots. These plots extend from “Plumwell to La Snape and from Gotesle to Lound”. Again
referring to the NRO maps this extension can be traced, starting from SP9952811. A fine stretch of about 500yds of
boundary bank runs parallel with the Slipton-Sudborough road. The boundary follows the road to SP960816 and then
turns north-east. The corner has been ploughed out.

{5} The boundary can still be traced along most of its length. It exists east of Slipton Lodge at SP95368102 and runs east parallel to and north of the modern road, up to the Lowick Sudborough parish boundary at SP95768106. Along this
length it consists of a low bank 5m wide x 1.5m high with a well-marked inner ditch on its north side 5m wide x up to 2m
deep. The ditch has been deepened throughout as a modern drain.
