Full Description

{1} The Martonia Building was constructed in the late 1890s for James Branch and Sons. It was a three storey shoe factory built of brick with limestone and sandstone dressings. The factory has remained in the shoe trade for much of its history although the occupants have changed on several occasions. Locally the building is known as the Elite Factory, reflecting the style of the boot made by the manufacturers Crockett and Jones who occupied the from 1924-1938.

[4} This three-storey L-plan shoe factory on a corner site of Artizan Road and Billington Street has a canted office entrance and elevations of eight and four bays. It was constructed circa 1880.
