{?} The original Wellingborough Zoo was a magnificant place situated in the gardens of the historic Croyland Abbey. A private collection of exotic animals it was opened to the public on June 13th 1943. The Zoo closed in 1970, and is now home to the Borough Council Offices, and the patch of green/brown grass called Croyland Gardens. (http://www.wboro.btinternet.co.uk/zoo.htm)
