Full Description

(1) What might be the site of a medieval mill on a former meander of Brampton Brook, straightened in the late 1880's, near its confluence with the Nene, opposite Kingsthorpe. The meander is a narrow embanked loop with a marked upstream angle, and is shown on the 1584 Church and Chapel Brampton map, by which date it may have been obsolete, as a reverse L shape or boot shape, and also on the 1763 Dallington map.
