Summary

The Birmingham and Oxford Junction Railway opened between Millstream Junction, in Oxford, and Banbury in 1850, and was initially broad gauge. The rest of the line to Birmingham was a double line of mixed gauge and opened in 1852.

{1} The Birmingham and Oxford Junction line opened between Millstream Junction, in Oxford, and Banbury in 1850, and was initially broad gauge. The rest of the line to Birmingham was a double line of mixed gauge and opened in 1852. It included a deviation through Leamington Spa. Initially there were 9 stations North of Banbury, a further 7 being added in the Birmingham area in the 19th century.
