Building record 7203/19/1 - Boot & Shoe Factory (C.W.Horrell Ltd. & Possibly Toetectors), Fitzwilliam Street

Horrell's shoe factory dates from the late 1890s. Manufacturer of 'Oral' footwear. The works was considerably extended in the early 20th century and later, both along the Moor Street frontage and to the rear of the factory, as well as absorbing a once separate shoe factory.

{1} Boot and Shoe Factory, Moor Road/ Fitzwilliam Street. Large boot and shoe factory on corner plot of Moor Road and Fitzwilliam Street. The builidng was originally owned by CW Horell Ltd, Shoe manufacturers. The building was owned by 'Totecters Shoe Factory' Large part of the building has recently been demolished for housing association developments, but the frontage has remained and will be converted into flats. {2} C W Horrell, manufacturer of 'Oral' footwear, built this large three-storey factory in the late-1890s. Extensive additions have been demolished in recent years and the remaining building has been converted into flats.
