Summary

Ridge and furrow field systems of medieval date are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as extant earthworks and were mapped as part of the Midland Open Fields Project and Historic England’s North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project. Located in the parish of Pottersbury, Northamptonshire, within the project area, in Parkland around Wakefield Lodge, and centred at SP 473569 242506. This area was part of the Forest of Whittlewood, within Wakefield Lawn and Hill Coppice on a 1787 plan of the forest. Earthworks are visible on aerial photographs and lidar visualisations and remain in parkland at Wakefield Lodge; this area is part of Whittlewood Forest on the 1787 plan of the forest.
