Building record 7203/11/1 - Highgrove, Rectory Road

The Co-operative Wholesale Society Boot & Shoe Factory was established on Portland Road circa 1900. Little or nothing of the original factory survives, but a three-storey office front of circa 1920 survives as a facade only, facing Rectory Road.

{1} Co-operative Wholesale Society Boot and Shoe Factory, Portland Road/Rectory Road. Established in 1900. The building occupied a large corner plot on Portland Road and Rectory Road. A large part of this structure has been demolished. The frontage, possibly office accommodation for the factory, survives and has been converted into flats. The remainder of the building has been demolished and the modern flats have been erected on the site. Office camera, photo 14-17.
