Please read our .

Summary

A boot and shoe factory that originated c1880 as a three- storey factory with a five-bay front to North Road. The factory has a chamfered blue brick plinth and boldly dentilled eaves and verge decoration in orange and buff brick. The windows have chamfered blue brick sills and segmental buff-brick arches. At the south end of the west front there was a yard entrance, now converted into a window, and above this there was a taking-in doorway on both upper floors; there is a scar for a former crane on the north side of the doorway. The entrance to the building appears to have been in the adjoining bay, where the present window has an arch set slightly higher than the others. The south gable which abuts No.s 51 and 53, is fenestrated only on the second floor. The north gable has a modern brick skin and is blind.
