{1} Andrew Austin and Co. Ltd. Soap Factory, Wellingborough Road. Business established in Wellingborough Road in 1900, as a specialist manufacturers of wax and boot polishes. It moved in 1910 and became the Rushden Adult Schools on 20th October 1923.The buildings are shown on early Ordnance Survey maps on corner of Duck Street and Wellingborough Road. One building remains, but would appear to have been re-modelled and is now in domestic usage. The remaining structures have been demolished and modern flats stand on the corner. Film 3, photo 19.
