Full Description

{1} Baptist Chapel, North End. Erected 1853. Stone built Baptist chapel. The building was used as a garage for car manufacturing from the 1920's. Motor vehicle manufacturing: Victor Ashby had a motor vehicle works in the old Baptist Chapel by 1921. He was helped by Sir Thomas Hesketh. In 1923 the business transferred to Manchester. The structure is currently in use by M.J. Gowling Carpets and Flooring. Film 4, Photo 25.

[NB. SMR Note: no chapel is shown on 1880s First Edition OS Mapping, so foundation dated may be incorrect! Also, marked on Second Edition OS Mapping as "Sunday School".]
